  • Basketball

Shooting, rebounding, dribbling, passing, and defending are among the significant skills in the game of basketball. Sharpening your skills is important, but learning the game as a team sport is just as valuable. A new term has emerged: Position-less players. Although players still have a specific job responsibility in their position, the roles have become more blended. Basketball has evolved over time and it is essential for players to understand how this change affects them and their team.

Point Guard. You are the leader on the court. We will help you develop the ability to lead your team and orchestrate the offense. You must have exceptional ball-handling skills, remarkable court vision, make assists, have the capability to score, and be a two-way player.

Shooting Guard. The name says it all, your job is to score. We will teach you how to be an efficient all-around shooter, hitting high percentage midrange shots, long range shots, and layups. We will also teach the ability to move without the basketball and be an effective two-way player. The more skills you have, the more value you bring to a team.

Small Forward. You are the team’s Army Swiss knife. We will teach you how to build a high level of athleticism and skill. Being able to play multiple positions is a must. We will teach you to develop skills in ball-handling, shooting, rebounding, moving without the ball, and defensive awareness.

Power Forward. There’s still a blended focus on this role, but physicality must be present. We will teach you how to have excellent skills in boxing out, rebounding, and having a midrange shot. Be of value in your position and learn how to have above average ball-handling skills.

Center. You are the anchor to your team’s defense. We will teach you how to have a strong physical presence in the paint. You should have great statistics in offensive and defensive rebounding and blocked shots, while possessing guard-like skills. Your role will incorporate the importance of boxing out and setting screens.

Overall Teaching Points: Use both hands, spacing, change of speed and direction, simplify your shot, teamwork, and game IQ, such as, understanding plays and situations - what teammate is on fire, time on clock per each possession, knowing how to help teammates, shot clock time, how to expose opponent’s weakness.
